Two men charged with the October 2009 armed robbery of the U.S. Post Office in Eden have pled guilty in U.S. District Court.
Jury selection and trial for Brian Tremane Bacon was set to begin Feb. 28 in U.S. District Court. Bacon entered a guilty plea Friday to one count of armed robbery and one count of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
Bacon and Thermon Tyree Gaines Jr. were indicted by a federal grand jury on Sept. 15, 2010, for the Oct. 14, 2009 armed robbery of the Eden post office.
They were charged with armed robbery of postmaster of the U.S., possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and conspiracy.
Gaines pled guilty on Jan. 10 to a count of armed robbery.
