Two suspects are behind bars after Effingham County drug investigators recovered 11 packs of powder cocaine which were individually packaged and several ecstasy pills Thursday evening on Highway 21.

Undercover drug agents received information that a shipment of cocaine and ecstasy was being transported into the county. Deputies stopped the vehicle at Highway 21 near Silverwood where the suspects were taken into custody.

Timothy Griffin, 34, of Springfield, and Keon Griffin, 28, of Guyton, were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute, conspiracy and unlawful use of a communication device.

The street value of the drugs found is estimated to be in the thousands of dollars. During the operation, investigators also seized the suspects’ Chevy Suburban.

“The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Suppression Team is committed to taking an aggressive and proactive approach to drug crimes within Effingham County,” said Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie.

Both are being held in the Effingham County Jail without bond.
