Three men are behind bars today following a home invasion where a mother and her two children were held at gunpoint.

Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Burke Drive on a report of a home invasion just after 11 p.m. Tuesday. A deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving the area. The suspect vehicle fled from law enforcement at a very high rate of speed. The suspects led deputies on a high speed pursuit with speeds reaching 80 mph.

The chase ended on Little McCall Road near Highway 119 after deputies attempted to box the vehicle in. The suspect vehicle crashed into the ditch. The suspects fled on foot. Three suspects were apprehended a short time later following a foot chase. Two of the three suspects were subdued with a tazer.
