Barbara A. Seidman, a resident of Waycross, has announced her intention to seek the 2018 Democratic nomination for Georgia's 1st Congressional District seat. The seat is currently held by Buddy Carter, a Republican.

Seidma will make her formal announcement at 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 at the Okefenokee Lions Club, 711 Columbus St., Waycross.
