RINCON —  May 8 will provide a golden opportunity for Effingham County residents looking to enhance their employment prospects.

The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, Effingham County Industrial Development Authority and Work Source Coastal have joined forces for a job fair at Effingham College & Career Academy. Eighteen employers have signed up for the 10 a.m.-2 p.m. event and that number is likely to grow.

“We are looking for job seekers,” said Brad Carr, executive director of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce. “WorkSource Coastal will be there conducting two workshops (before the job fair) to help people understand how to work a job fair and how to prepare a resume.

“Those are going to be free workshops.”

Carr said job fair employers are in need of workers. Their representatives will take resumes and offer information about their companies and their employment needs.

“We gave 18 confirmed employers and we are still growing,” Carr said. “We should have plenty of job opportunities looking for candidates. It’s going to be a wide array of different types of jobs.”

The confirmed employers are Georgia State Patrol, H&R Block, Staff Zone, Walmart Supply Chain, Georgia-Pacific, Interfor, Georgia Transformer, ABM, Effingham County Board of Education, Thomas & Hutton, Horizon Staffing, Savannah Tech, Sizemore Inc, Troy University, HWPhillips Landscaping & Maintenance LLC, The Reserves Network and Effingham Health System.

Applicants should come dressed for success and bring their resumes, and a desire to work.

The workshops will be held at WorkSource Coastal’s Effingham Job Center, 401 S. Columbia Ave., Rincon, on May 6. The first one at 10 a.m. will focus on resume writing. The second at 2 p.m. will instruct job prospects how to enhance their effectiveness at the job fair.

WorkSource Coastal asks that individuals interested in attending either workshop to call the Effingham Job Center at 912-295-2821 to register.

“We really appreciate WorkSource Coastal for helping us put this on,” Carr said.
