Error on last play lifts Bears over Rebels

An eighth-inning error allowed Burke County to tally the deciding run a a 3-2 win Wednesday against Effingham County.

The homestanding Bears collected seven hits, just one more than the Rebels, but had two fewers errors. Burke County pitchers also notched 10 strikeouts comparted to Effingham County's 10.

The Rebels tallied their runs in the second inning. Chandler Hinely had an RBI during the rally.

Burke County forced a 2-2 tie by scoring one run in the fourth and fifth fames.

Jerid Stokes led the Rebels at the plate with two hits.

Ethan Johnson and Avery Elanbaas pitched for Effingham County. Elenbaas took the loss the despite giving up just one run in 3 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked nine.
