Purcell named to Jekyll Island oversight committee

ATLANTA— House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) announced the appointment of the following members of the Georgia House of Representatives to the Jekyll Island – State Park Authority Oversight Committee:

Rep. Roger Lane (R-Darien), 2011 Vice Chair and 2012 Chair

Rep. Mark Hamilton (R-Cumming)

Rep. Ann Purcell (R-Rincon)

The Jekyll Island-State Park Authority Oversight Committee is responsible for reviewing the authority’s annual financial position and ensuring the authority’s statutory duties and functions are accomplished successfully and in accordance with Georgia law.

The committee is composed of three members of the House of Representatives and three members of the Senate. The Speaker of the House makes appointments for the House and the President of the Senate makes appointments for the Senate. Additionally, the Speaker of the House appoints a member who will serve as vice-chairman in odd numbered years and as chairman in even numbered years. The members of the committee serve two-year terms concurrent with their terms as members of the General Assembly.

Also, the Georgia House and Senate Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment Committees will hold a public hearing in Savannah on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. The public hearing on redistricting will be held at the Armstrong Center on the campus of Armstrong Atlantic State University, 13040 Abercorn St.
