Hendley Road to reopen at noon today
Breaking news

PORT WENTWORTH --  Hendley Road will officially reopen to the public today at noon.

The road has been closed during the summer to relocate and reconstruct the road and utilities.

City Manager Steve Davis stated, “This roadway is a vital connector for our community, and we are excited to get it back online.”

He continued by thanking the public for their cooperation and understanding during this difficult transition. There is more work to be done before it is 100 percent complete but it will be completed over the coming weeks while it is in operation.

The new road features a heavy-duty pavement with cement-stabilized base to handle truck traffic for the industrial sites under construction near Hwy 21, a new larger water main with fire hydrants, and a new sewer line. Additionally, streetlights to help illuminate the roadway and a traffic signal for the Hwy 21 intersection will be completed over the coming months.
