SAVANNAH —  George Justice Jr from Savannah received an unexpected Father’s Day gift when he was announced as the grand-prize winner of the newly-built, $345,000 St. Jude Dream Home house Sunday. His winning ticket was pulled from among more than 5,267 other tickets during the live St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway on WSAV TV.

Justice is a father of five and a grandfather and great-grandfather of 30. He and his wife, Opal, visited the St. Jude Dream Home house built by Ernest Homes Sunday evening with their family.  Justice has purchased a St. Jude Dream Home ticket every year. This year he got his at BB&T in April.

“The Lord has blessed us in so many ways,” Justice said. “I always support St. Jude, but I never dreamed I would actually win.  I do it to help the children who really need it.”

The St. Jude Dream Home is in the Tranquilla Hall subdivision in Richmond Hill. It was built by Ernest Homes with support from various local suppliers and housing subcontractors. Local St. Jude patient, Owen Attaway of Statesboro, drew the winner.

“We’re really proud about the success of the St. Jude Dream Home in Savannah,” said Toby Moreau, Dream Home chairman.

The St. Jude Dream Home raised $526,700 for research and treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tenn., was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas. The hospital is an internationally recognized biomedical research center dedicated to finding cures for catastrophic diseases of childhood. All St. Jude patients are treated regardless of their ability to pay. ALSAC covers all costs of treatment beyond those reimbursed by third party insurers, and total costs for families who have no insurance. For more information, please visit www.stjude.org.
