The Coastal Bank branch in Rincon was damaged by a fire caused by a lightning strike during the storm that rolled through Effingham County late Monday afternoon.

No one was injured.

The lighting strike caused a fire in the attic of the building, according to county emergency management director Ed Myrick. Four Rincon Fire Department trucks responded to the scene and the fire was quickly put out.

“It was not a total loss,” Myrick said. “It was mostly water damage.”
