Music In Our Schools Concert a hit as students let voices be heard

A lot of joyful noise was heard Thursday night at Countryside Baptist Church in Guyton as choirs from four Effingham County schools performed as part of the Music in Our Schools Month Concert.

The night began with a performance from the South Effingham High School Beginning Women’s Choir, who performed “Medieval Gloria” - soloists were Kalei Bulwinkle, Megan Newman, Allyssa Sasser and Gabriella Hernandez.

They then performed “Homeward Bound” - soloists were Kayla Jones and Ashley Wineman.

The South Effingham Middle School 7th Grade Chorus then performed “Listen to the Rain” and “A Festive Alleluia”.

Blandford Elementary School’s 4th and 5th Grade Chorus performed “Stand By Me” and “Never Say Never” - Arianna Arminger was the lone soloist.

The SEHS Men’s Choir performed “Kum Bah Yah” and “Tears In Heaven”.

The SEMS 6th Grade Chorus performed “Chantez Alleluia” and “For the Beauty of the Earth”.

South Effingham Elementary School’s 5th Grade Chorus performed “The Birth of Spring” and “We Believe in Music”.

The SEMS 8th Grade Chorus performed “Coming Home” (Lexi Layton, soloist) and “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho”.

The SEHS Advanced Women’s Chorus performed “Ave Maria” and “J’entends le Moulin”.

Finally, all choirs got together on stage and performed “Music Matters”.

All participating schools would like to thank Countryside Baptist Church for hosting the event and supporting the Fine Arts in Effingham County.
