Lawton Nease faced the end the way he lived his long, distinguished life.
The quiet yet stalwart philanthropist and businessman died Saturday at the age of 91 and was laid to rest Monday afternoon in Guyton Cemetery.
“He was the real deal,” his grandson Jim Exley said at Monday’s funeral service.
An overflow crowd came to Guyton United Methodist Church on Monday morning to pay their final respects to Nease.
