The Herald wants to get out into the community but we also want to bring the community to us

RINCON — Nichole Buchanan has an open-door policy. That doesn’t mean she will always be in her 1204 N. Columbia St. office when someone wants to see her, however.

“I am really looking forward to being an active member in Effingham County,” said Buchanan, the new publisher of the Effingham Herald. “I am looking forward to helping Effingham County businesses with marketing. We can help every business in town.

“We have options that can fit any business — big or small.”

Buchanan has a decade of newspaper experience. She spent the last six years as the general manager of the Americus Times-Recorder. She also worked at the Bainbridge Post Searchlight for four years as a sales representative.

One of Buchanan’s goals is to increase the usage of the Herald Center, an event space at the Herald’s office building that is available for weddings, parties and corporate events. It features a large indoor hall, 1,500 square foot patio and a large, fully landscaped outdoor garden area.

“The Herald wants to get out into the community but we also want to bring the community to us,” Buchanan said. “This is a formal invitation to check out our facilities.”

To schedule a tour, call (912) 826-5012.

Buchanan reiterated the Herald’s ability to help businesses raise their profile in the community through print or web advertising.

“It’s cutting edge,” she said. “We can do anything any marketing agency that you can look up can do for you. And not only are you marketing your business, you are helping your local newspaper provide the news and coverage that it needs.

“We bring you a print product but we encourage you to follow our social media and website (www.effinghamherald.net) for the most current news that is available.”

Buchanan is still settling into her new job and looking for a new home but she is ready to help customers now.

“I want everyone to know that I have an open-door policy,” she said. “I want people to feel free to reach out to me anytime.”

Buchanan’s cell phone number is (229) 942-0744. Her email address is www.nbuchanan@effinghamherald.net.
