Guyton – Rev. Darnell Barner, 66, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The Effingham County native was the pastor of First Baptist Church of Blitchton. He had preached, which he loved and was always prepared, for over 40 years in several churches. Bro. Darnell loved his family and especially loved watching his grandsons play sports. He was preceded in death by his father, John William Barner.

Sur-vivors include his wife of 39 years, Glynda Hall Barner; daughter, Holly Burney (David); grandchildren, Connor, Brayden, David William, and Zachary Sterling; his mother, Carletta Barner; brother, Allen Barner (Samantha); and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was February 6 and the funeral followed..

Interment: Effingham Memorial Gardens
