Port Wentworth City Council members to miss special called meeting
Breaking news

Four Port Wentworth City Council members have Georgia Municipal Association training scheduled and will be out town Wednesday, the day of a special called meeting by Mayor Gary Norton.

In addition, one council member  is on vacation and will not attend. The next regular city council meeting is set March 24 at 7 p.m.

Mayor Pro Tem Thomas Barbee sent an email to local media Monday night that said Norton is aware of the mandatory GMA training that will force other council members out of town. According to an earlier email sent by interim City Manager Steve Davis, Norton is seeking a motion to divide the city.
