A Rincon man suffered minor injuries after his experimental plane had an emergency landing Saturday afternoon in northern Effingham County.

According to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, Frederick Huger, 70, was attempting to land his experimental single-engine plane at an airstrip off Green Morgan School Road. His engine failed and Huger attempted to make an emergency landing in an open field.

Apparently, a tailwind caught his plane and it crashed, damaging the plane and resulting in minor injuries to Huger, said ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.
