On Oct. 31, the Rincon Police Department will have a Halloween detail out in subdivisions and city streets around the city of Rincon.

Each officer will be assigned to a certain area and will be armed with candy and Junior Police badges. As they are patrolling through the areas, they will interact with the children and their parents as they trick or treat. The detail will be in operation between 5:30-9 p.m. The detail will remain out longer if the children are still out in force on the city streets.

Parents are asked to make sure that their children use some type of reflective clothing or a light so that a motorist in the dark can see them.  The motoring public is reminded that a large amount of children will be on the streets of Rincon on Halloween night and to use extreme caution around the children as they walk on the sides of the street and go from house to house.

Rincon Police Chief David Schofield thanked the following merchants for their donation of candy for this detail — Kroger, Fred’s Dollar Store, Quest, Food Lion, Wal-Mart and Citizens Bank. Other retailers have indicated that they may donate at a later date.
