People need health care as a basic human right.

SPRINGFIELD —  First Congressional District candidate Lisa Ring didn’t hesitate when asked to reveal her dream scenario if she unseats Rep. Buddy Carter in November.

Given a chance to explain what she would prefer her first vote to accomplish, she said near the end of Thursday’s Effingham County Democratic Committee meeting, “Medicare for all — a universal single-payer health care system. I think that’s the number one issue on everybody’s minds throughout the country and in this district. People need health care as a basic human right.”

Ring also shared her views on other issues, including veterans’ affairs and the environment.
