A Guyton woman has won $50,000 playing the Georgia lottery.

Hedy English, 59, played the Triple Diamonds instant win game, a scratch off game. She purchased the $2 lottery ticket from the Parker’s convenience store at the corner of Highways 119 and 17 in Guyton.

“I had to get my glasses to make sure it was real,” she said.

The retiree from International Paper said that she may use the money to pay some bills, help out her kids and go on a vacation. She has two children and three grandchildren.

Despite the long odds of winning when playing the larger prize games, the odds for Triple Diamonds are 1 in 4.47, according to the Georgia Lottery.
