Members of the Effingham Sunrise Rotary Club got he latest news on the “Mars on Main” project. The “Mars on Main” Revitalization Committee just got the signed contract back and can now move forward with the planned demolition and future restoration of the old Mars Theater (circa 1948) in downtown Springfield.

“This facility will be a cultural arts and education center that will serve all of Effingham county,” said co-chairperson Gussie Nease. “Most people have to drive to Savannah or Statesboro to see theater events, so there is a local need here in Effingham.”

Persons interested in supporting this effort can contact Nease at 826-1437 or email gussie02@alltel.net.

Effingham Sunrise Rotary Club meets every Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. at the Guyton Christian Church activities building.
