SPRINGFIELD — People eager to whet their appetites for good food and music can do so by purchasing tickets to one of Effingham County’s premier annual events, A Night in Effingham.

The ninth edition of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce-sponsored soiree, set March 8 in Downtown Springfield, will feature samples of some of the finest cuisine from area caterers and restaurants, plus The One Stop Pony Band.

Effingham County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Brad Carr urged Effingham County residents not to miss out on this mouth-watering opportunity.

“It’s going to be a nice evening,” he said. “I expect it to be a good time.”

A Night in Effingham consists of two parts. It will start at 6 p.m. with A Taste of Effingham. The food-sampling extravaganza will be housed under a large tent next to the Mars Theatre on Laurel Street.

At 8 p.m., the activity will move into the Mars Theatre for The One Stop Pony Band performance. The band plays the music of Billy Joel, Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash and more.

“They are supposed to be really good,” Carr said.

Tickets for the complete package cost $50. The cost to just sample the food is $15.

Tickets are on sale through March 1 at the chamber office at 530 3rd St. in Springfield or by visiting www.effinghamcounty.com.

“We can still take vendors,” Carr said. “We have thirteen but we could still take more. We have some new ones and we are excited about that.”

The additions include New Ebenezer Retreat Center, Honey’s Catering and Stoner’s Pizza.
