ACS Memorial Service grateful for communitys help

Dear Editor,

Thanks very much to our local citizens for your support and great attendance at the annual Effingham County Community American Cancer Society Memorial Service held on Nov. 10. It was a service of remembrance for 10 citizens from our area with a memorial plaque dedicated to each one. The plaques will be added to the ACS Memorial Display at Effingham Hospital.

Thanks to all who helped make the service successful. We appreciate the participation of Rev. Daryl Brown of Guyton United Methodist Church, Rev. Al Fernandez of Laurel Hill Lutheran Church in Clyo and Sandra White, a faithful local ACS volunteer. The ACS is grateful to the Effingham County Board of Education and Superintendent Randy Shearouse for the use of the Board of Education Auditorium and Carolyn Conaway for preparing the area for our use. Special thanks to Joann’s Florist of Springfield for donating 10 roses, one for each of the families and for decorations for our stage.

Thanks to all in our community for your support of the American Cancer Society. Hopefully one day with more research, education, early detection and treatment, these services will no longer be necessary. Please support our yearly Relay for Life fundraiser next spring.
