Mustangs trample Sharks in tennis

South Effingham's tennis teams rolled over Islands on their home courts Wednesday.

The Lady Mustangs (5-0) blanked the Lady Sharks 5-0 and the Mustangs (3-0) gigged the Sharks 4-1.

In girls singles, No. 1 Mallori Jenkins dominated her opening set 6-2 and ultimately won her match by default over J'Lyn Brown. Nos. 2 and 3 singles players Kayla Rogers and Grace Bentley posted 6-0, 6-0 victories.

In doubles, Mackenzie Dennison/Deanna Gunnels and Ashley Waco/Mackenzie Pevey won easily.

In boys action, Islands' lone win came in the No. 1 singles match as Brittain Gottlieb slipped past Zan Kreyenbuhl 7-6, 6-4. Reece Allen and Hunter Wainright had no trouble in their singles matches.

In doubles, Nick Walbert/Miguel Rodriguez and Michael Bailey/Isiah Scott were easy winners.
