Darius Scott, a 2018 South Effingham High School graduate, broke Muhammad Halim's Cornell indoor freshman triple jump record Saturday in the 2019 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track and Field Championships in Cambridge, Mass.

Scott sailed 50 feet, three inches to earn his first collegiate championship medal. The leap was a personal record that placed Scott sixth in the Ivy League.

Halim, a former Olympian, set the previous indoor mark for freshmen in 2005. It was 52 feet, 2 1/2 inches.
