The South Effingham Middle School Lady Mustangs softball team added three more region wins in its undefeated season and also honored its outgoing eighth-graders.
SEMS downed Langston Chapel Middle School 19-0 as pitcher Kylie Bohl tossed a no-hitter, walking two and striking out three.
Krysten Hodges was 3-for-3 and drove in four runs, Natalie Easterling and Ashleigh Woods each went 1-for-1 with two RBIs, Bohl, Francie Gaskin and Kamryn Taylor each went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Alex Brown and Caroline Brown were 1-for-1 with one RBI each and Dailey Bilenski was 1-for-2.
In addition to paying tribute to its eighth-graders, the Lady Mustangs thumped Metter 12-3. Kastin Belorgorska got the win, striking out six, before giving way to Emily Laverenz.
Mallori Jenkins was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Madelyn Smith was 2-for-3 with one RBI, Allie Ergle was 1-for-1 with two RBIs, Belogorska was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, Alexa Johanson went 2-for-3, Cheyenne Miller was 1-for-1 and Courtney Cubbedge was 1-for-2.
SEMS took time to honor its eighth graders — Miller, Cubbedge, Jenkins, Taylor, Laverenz, Ergle, Smith, Belogorska, Johanson and Lauren Conaway — with special recognition and a gift before the game began.
The Lady Mustangs jumped out to an early lead on William James Middle School as well and took a 15-2 victory.
Seven runs in the first three innings allowed the Lady Mustangs to put the game away early. Bohl, Hailey Pinette and Ergle combined to strike out seven and allow just two hits.
Bohl and Johanson were 1-for-2 with two RBIs each, Smith went 1-for-2 with one RBI, Easterling was 1-for-1 with one RBI, Cubbedge, Laverenz and Alex Brown were each 1-for-1, and Conaway, Blakely Hagan and Carolyn Brown each went 1-for-2.
