GUYTON -- A game that started more than 24 hours later than expected was very much worth the wait for the South Effingham Lady Mustangs.
South Effingham rallied for all its runs in the sixth inning to nip rival Effingham County 3-1 Wednesday night. The victory was the Lady Mustangs' seventh straight to start the season.
Rachel Mixon delivered the key hit, a two-out double that plated Allie Ergle and Cheyenne Miller. Ergle and Miller opened the frame with successive singles to left field.
ReAnn McCloy followed Mixon's decisive blow with another double, giving the Lady Mustangs an insurance run.
Like the previous night when the contest was called because of lightning, the Lady Rebels, playing their first game of the year, jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Jaci Coleman scored the run on a bases-loaded groundout by Sydney Newberry.
