South Effingham defeated Wayne County 5-1 in a non-region softball contest in Jesup on Monday.

The win upped the Lady Mustangs' record to 18-2-1 overall. They are 9-1 in Region 2-AAAAAA play.

Bailey Kendziorski pitched all seven frames for South Effingham, allowing six hits, She fanned eight and issued no free passes.

Sarah Messex paced the Lady Mustangs with two RBI. Whitney Thompson and Chloe Turner each added two hits and drove in a run.

Alex Brown had one hit and scored twice.
