Statesboro defeated New Hampstead 30-6 Friday night, earning it the Region 2-AAAAA's No. 3 playoff seed.

In addition, the Blue Devils' victory wrapped up the No. 4 seed for South Effingham. The Mustangs will play at Jones County next week in the opening round of the state playoffs.

If New Hampstead had beaten Statesboro, a mini playoff featuring those teams and the Mustangs would have been played at Rebel Field on Monday because each squad would have finished 1-3 in region play.

Ware County beat Wayne County for the region title Friday night. The Yellow Jackets settled for the second seed.
