PORT WENTWORTH — The 13th annual Savannah River Spring Classic Fishing Tournament will launch from the Houlihan Boat Landing in Port Wentworth at first light April 25. The tournament raises funds for the Military Order of the Purple Heart Association, Chatham County auxiliary. Registration for the tournament opens Monday and may be completed online at www.savannahriverspringclassic.com. The fee is $150 per two-man team.

Fishing begins at 6 a.m., with weigh-in scheduled from 3-4 p.m. Anglers compete to win prizes, including the guaranteed first place prize of $2,000. The Captain’s Dinner will be held April 24. All anglers must be present.

The tournament is part of Port Wentworth’s larger celebration, the Stand Up for America Day, which includes live music, food, free children’s rides and activities, fireworks and visits from military members.
