Burke golfers defend home course

Burke County posted a 316 and won a three-way match with Effingham County and South Effingham at Waynesboro Country Club, beating Effingham by one stroke.

Ryan Fletcher led the Rebels (317) with a 75. Bateman Hall had a 77, Matt Johnson shot an 80 and Walker Jenkins shot 85. Number one golfer Wheaton Hall was out with an injury.

Parker Spivey had a 79 for the Mustangs (338). Taylor Landing shot an 84, Garrison Huggins posted an 86 and Matt Olliff finished at 89.

Jon Keller paced the Bears with a 74.

Jorie Marchmen shot an 89 to lead Burke (195) to a win in the girls match. Stephanie Simmons shot a 94 and Chelsea McIntyre had a 116 for Effingham County. Brooke Capwell shot a 101 and Ashley Gordon finished at 119 for South Effingham.
