South Effingham jump starts its volleyball season with a 5 p.m. match at Windsor Forest today.

The Lady Mustangs return three starters from last year’s squad that finished second in Area 3-AAA and one game away from advancing to the Class AAA Final 4.

Middle hitter Chrissy Ray, outside hitter Missy Ray and rightside hitter Olivia Meeks return to help push the Lady Mustangs over the hump.

South Effingham has advanced to the state playoffs the last six years, but has not been able to crack into the semi-finals. The team also regularly finishes second in the area, behind state powerhouse St. Vincent’s Academy.

At the crucial setter position, SEHS coach Eric Harris is going with senior Tiffany Dean. Dean played some setter last year, but Brittany Collins, who is now at Brewton-Parker, was the starter.
