The Effingham County Lady Rebels finished fifth in a 15-team field at the Class AAAA state golf tournament Tuesday at Augusta’s Forest Hills Country Club.

Madison Mongin posted an 84, good for 13th individually, and Stephanie Simmons shot an 88, placing her 16th. Chelsea McIntyre had a 109, putting her 46th out of 61 players.

Woodward Academy topped Ware County by one stroke, 166-167, to claim the state championship. The Lady Rebels were six shots off the pace at 172.

Katie Burnett of Brunswick won the individual state title with a 70.
