Lady Rebels turn back Lady Pirates

SPRINGFIELD -- Effingham County overcame an early deficit to defeat Brunswick in Region 2-AAAAAA softball at Rebel Field on Monday. The Lady Rebels (14-2, 10-1) prevailed 6-3.

The Lady Pirates (6-13, 2-8) got three unearned runs in the first inning against winning pitcher Rylee Mills, who scattered six hits and issued no walks over five innings. Julia Carter closed the contest with two scoreless frames. Both hurlers notched four strikeouts.

Catcher Addie Reynolds paced Effingham County at the plate, getting one hit and three RBI. Enna Lackey added two hits, two runs scored and one RBI. Shelby Aiken had a hit and scored once.
