Locals in college update

Men’s cross country
Jesse Campbell (Georgia Regents University) — Campbell and the Jaguars will run Saturday at the Peach Belt Conference championships in Americus.
Damon Webb (Gordon State College) — Webb had a time of 30:29.71 in the Berry College Invitational. The Crusaders will run Saturday at the Region XVII championship.
Ernie Zittrouer (Gordon State College) — A sophomore, Zittrouer was the Highlanders’ top finisher at the Berry College Invitational, turning in a time of 29:38.81.


Football
Drew Brindley (LaGrange College) — Brindley dressed but did not see action in the Panthers’ 44-40 comeback win over Huntingdon (Ala.). LaGrange, now 3-3, will visit Methodist (N.C.) on Saturday.
Justin McIntyre (LaGrange College) — A sophomore linebacker, McIntyre had seven tackles, including two for a loss, in the Panthers’ win. McIntyre also was named the USA South special teams player of the week for Sept. 29. His punt block against Greensboro led to the Panthers’ first touchdown in a 35-21 win. He was chosen by the coaches as the defensive and special teams player of the game for that week.
Stephen Wilson (LaGrange College) — Wilson is a freshman offensive lineman for the Panthers. He dressed but did not play in Saturday’s game.


Women’s soccer
Sydnie Van Curen (Georgia Southern University) — The junior forward did not record any shots in the Eagles (5-8-2, 3-3-1 SoCon) 3-2 loss to Elon and attempted two shots in a 1-0 win over UNC Greensboro. The Eagles visit Furman on Friday and Wofford on Sunday.
Marissa Hamm (University of South Carolina Beaufort) — The sophomore played in the Sand Sharks’ 2-1 win over SCAD but did not attempt any shots. The Sand Sharks (6-8-1, 3-4 Sun) will host Southeastern on Thursday.
