Pros


Baseball
Josh Reddick (Oakland Athletics) — Reddick didn’t get a second straight Gold Glove, losing out to Boston’s Shane Victorino, but he was tabbed the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year for the A’s. Despite being limited to 108 games, Reddick was third among AL outfielders in double plays and ninth in assists.


Colleges


Men’s basketball
Demontrez Austin (South Georgia State College) — A redshirt freshman, Austin has not seen action yet for the Hawks.
DeAundray Rhett (South Georgia) — Rhett came off the bench to score 16 points in a 65-29 blowout of the Martinique National Team. He had four points and five rebounds in a 77-73 win over Darton State.
T.J. Rines (South Georgia) — Rines had three points in the win over Martinique and three points against Darton.
Ryan Wilkins (Middle Georgia State College) — The former ECHS guard is now playing for the Warriors, who fell to 1-3 with a 72-64 loss to Chattahoochee Valley Community College on Thursday. He had five points in a loss to Georgia Highlands and five points in a win over Impact Academy.
Jay Wright (Casper College) — Wright is off to a flying start in the Laramie Mountains, scoring 32 points in the Thunderbirds’ 109-82 win over the Wyoming All-Stars. He also had nine rebounds and four assists. He had 25 points in a 79-61 win over Air Force Prep and 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the Thunderbirds’ 95-61 rout of ABCD Prep.


Women’s basketball
Amy Jameson (College of Coastal Georgia) — The freshman from South Effingham has started two games and played in five for the Lady Mariners. She has scored 18 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, to go with four steals, in those five games.


Men’s cross country
Jesse Campbell (Georgia Regents University) — The Jaguars took third at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional meet, held Saturday at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. The NCAA Division II championship will be held in Spokane, Wash.


Football
Tovar Allen (Alabama State University) — The Hornets (6-4) lost 31-28 to Southern (La.), despite 202 yards rushing. Allen is the starting right tackle for the Hornets, who go on the road to face Mississippi Valley State next.
Justin McIntyre (LaGrange College) —The Panthers got the first win in the Matt Mumme era, downing Ferrum 10-7. McIntyre had one tackle in the victory.
Stephen Wilson (LaGrange College) — Wilson played in the Panthers’ win over Ferrum, which improved their record to 4-5. LaGrange will end the season Saturday at Averett (Va.).


Women’s soccer
Marissa Hamm (University of South Carolina Beaufort) — The Sand Sharks lost 4-0 to Savannah College Art and Design in the Sun Conference quarterfinals, ending their season at 9-9-1. Hamm came into the game as a substitute but did not record a shot. She played in 15 games.
