Rebels pile up big early lead, win 12-6

After vaulting to an early 9-0 lead, the Effingham County Rebels smacked the Statesboro Blue Devils 12-6 at Rebel Field on Thursday.

The Rebels (13-3) collected 12 hits and benefited from six errors en route to their seventh straight victory.

The top five hitters in Effingham County's order -- Christian Campbell, Ryan Harley, Jordan Rahn, Jerid Stokes and Austin Mealor -- combined for nine hits, six RBI and seven runs scored. No. 6 hitter JR Lonon added a hit and an RBI, and Chandler Hinely had two hits, a runs scored and an RBI.

Rahn had the most hits and RBI with three each.

Merritt Evans was the winning pitcher. He worked six frames, allowing three hits and three runs (zero earned).

Campbell left his usual shortstop position to get the last three outs on the mound.
