SPRINGFIELD -- The Effigham County Rebels buried the New Hampstead Phoenix with an avalanche of runs Wednesday.

Already leading 8-0, the Rebels (7-3) exploded for 10-third inning runs en route to a 20-5 non-region, four-inning victory at Rebel Field.

Christian Campbell, Austin Mealor and Chandler Hinely each collected three hits to pace Effingham County. Jerid Stokes added two base knocks.

Stokes was the leading run producer with four RBI. Ryan Harley, Mealor and Hinely each knocked in three runs.

Campbell scored four times and Harley, Jordan Rahn, Stokes, Mealor, Hinely, Holden Fields and Chase Howze each scored at least twice.

Howze and Rahn notched a stolen base apiece.

  • Chrys Hawkins was credited with the pitching victory. He allowed three hits and four runs while striking out two in three innings. Garrett Miller tossed in the final frame.
