South Effingham Middle School honored its basketball teams at a banquet held on Feb. 5. The banquet, including dinner, was held in the school cafeteria.  

Every player was present along with 125 family members and guests. Each player received a certificate of recognition for their contribution throughout the season.

Five players from each team were also honored with award trophies.  The Lady Mustangs honored Shirley Headen with the academic award, Amy Jameson with the coach’s award, Beverly Williams with the Hustle Award and Courtney “CJ” Jenkins and Meagan “CoCo” Johnson as the co-most valuable players.  

The Mustangs honored Alex Norwood with the academic award, Tony Hunter with the Mr. Hustle award, Spencer Harvey with the Skipper award, Joe Gleason with the coach’s award and Nick Beline as the most valuable player.

Other team members for the girls’ team include: Gabby Graham, Alexis Williams, Nicole Beasley, Morgan Deal, Brooke Davis, Cate Anderson, Meagan Williams, Tianna Germain, Daria Manior, Caroline Graham, Hannah Schurman and Reagan Deal.

Other team member for the boys team include:  Josh Beasley, Alec Rattanaxay, Harrison Stafford, Chase Clayton, Brandon James, Eric Knox, Josh Mercer, Cody Parker, Anthony Reese, Tyler Shepard, Christian Wells, Wesley Mullins and Brett Scott.
