The South Effingham Middle School Lady Mustangs finished as co-champions along with Ebenezer Middle in a preseason tournament Aug.10-11 in Brooklet.

South Effingham won all four of its games.

The teams split the title because the final game was cancelled when the heat index reached 132 degrees for the championship game.

Miranda Morris and Courtney Jenkins were selected to the all tournament team.  Other players include Gabby Graham, Casey Rhodes, Cate Anderson, Amy Jameson, Kaity White, Mallory Ferguson, Allison Rattanaxay, Kristen Pierce, Ashton Collins, Haley McEwen, Morgan Deal, Shelby Stephens, Katie Kussow, Mariah Freeman, Caroline Graham and Reagan Deal.

In the opener Friday, SEMS defeated Burke County, 9-6 and followed it with a 2-0 win over Ebenezer. The Lady Mustangs beat Effingham County 10-0 Saturday morning and later defeated Screven County 8-1.
