The Brunswick Pirates followed a familiar script against the South Effingham Mustangs on Thursday.
Despite getting outhit for the second straight game, the Pirates slipped past the Mustangs 4-3. They edged South Effingham 4-2 on Wednesday after getting outhit 7-2, the same amount as Thursday's contest.
Thursday's big blow was a three-run home run in the fifth inning by Mitchell Richburg. It erased a 2-1 advantage the Mustangs had enjoyed since the third frame.
Hunter Goff slugged a homer for Brunswick in the second inning.
Jakob Valleroy absorbed the loss on the mound. He worked two innings in relief on Jakob Gross. He struck one hit -- Richburg's homer -- struck out five and walked one. The three runs he surrendered were unearned.
Valleroy led the Mustangs (4-7) at the plate with three hits, an RBI and a run scored. Nick Milbrandt had one hit and two RBI.
South Effingham committed three errors.
