Two more wins for SEMS softball

The South Effingham Middle School softball team blew out Richmond Hill 9-3 at Richmond Hill after pouring on six runs in the 10th inning.


Pitcher Kastin Belagorska pitched all 10 innings, giving up only seven hits and striking out five. Belagorska was backed up with a strong defensive effort.


The game was back-and-forth heading into the 10th, with five lead changes. SEMS finally managed to grab the lead after a strong offensive 10th inning. Cason Smith and Katelynn Hodges teamed up for five hits and three RBIs.  Alexa Johanson had one hit, and Courtney Cubbedge had one hit.


The Lady Stangs added another win to their collection  with a 21-3 three-inning rout over Burke County. Sixth-graders Kylie Bohl and Hailey Pinette shared pitching time.  Bohl gave up no hits and had three strikeouts and Pinette gave up only two hits and had two strikeouts.


Bohl drew three walks and scored three runs. Lauren Conaway drove in two runs, Cheyenne Miller had one RBI and scored twice, Elizabeth Hare had two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored, Francie Gaskin had two walks and one RBI, Pinette drew three walks, scored three runs and had one RBI, Kiera Nesmith was 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs, Krysten Hodges had three walks, three runs scored and one RBI, Madi Goff scored twice and drove in a run and Natalie Easterling had one RBI and scored twice.
