The Effingham County 4-H Project SAFE Shotgun Team delivered a top performance April 19-20 at the District Modified Trap Match, a key qualifier for the State competition.

Eighteen team members earned their spots to advance to the State level, which will take place the weekend of May 10 in Eatonton.

The team is made up of students in middle school through high school who practice weekly with volunteer coaches. Members of the qualifier match team are: Logan Achtziger, Gatlyn Arnsdorff, Kayne Arnsdorff, Kahlyn Cook, Caden DiSalvo, Hayden Fields, Levi Garrett, Caleb Hagan, CJ Maybin, Bryce Morris, Tripp Proctor, Brady Rahn, Branton Rahn, Evans Roddenberry, Carson Smith, Tucker Smith, Emerson Verrier, Walker Verrier, and Brennan Ward. Coaches Nathan Coffee, Kevin DeSalvo, Gary Gale, Joshua Proctor, and Jason Verrier have worked hard this season to develop this successful team. 

“We are incredibly proud of these young athletes and the way they represent Effingham County 4-H,” Agent Morgan Triplett said. “Their hard work and dedication continue to shine through, and we’re excited to cheer them on at the State Competition in just a few weeks.”

After more than 40 years with Effingham County Schools, CeCe Nixon is retiring, leaving behind a quiet legacy of excellence, compassion and steady leadership. From her beginnings as a kindergarten paraprofessional to her vital role in the district’s testing office, Nixon has impacted generations of students and educators with her work ethic, professionalism and heart.
