Backpacks are packed, buses are rolling, and classroom doors are swinging open — it’s the first day of school for Effingham County. More than 14,600 students are returning to class today, with 205 school buses hitting the roads to help get them there. According to AAA, 69% of Georgia drivers will travel through school zones or near bus stops regularly during the fall. All motorists are encouraged to slow down, stay alert, and obey all bus signals to help protect children as the new year begins.
