The Bible makes clear that our bodies are temples and that we show respect for God when we take care of them. But bad habits can accumulate and cause us to inadvertently become "temple trashers."

If this has happened to you, here are 10 Bible verses to help get you back on track. (All verses are from the King James Version.)

  1. Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
  2. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. (Psalm 91:16)
  3. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
  4. According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. (Philippians 1:20)
  5. A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. (Proverbs 24:5)
  6. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1)
  7. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (Matthew 16:24)
  8. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)
  9. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
  10. All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. (1 Corinthians 6:12)
