SPRINGFIELD, Ga. — Art on the walls, photographs in the spotlight, and music on the stage — Springfield is setting the scene for a memorable Friday night, with the Effingham Artist Studio debuting its new space, the Capturing Effingham photo contest honoring its winners, and Bailey Bigger bringing her acclaimed voice to the Mars Theatre.

Effingham Artist Studio Grand Opening & Photo Contest

The celebration begins at 4 p.m. with a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting for the new Effingham Artist Studio on South Laurel Street. At 4:30 p.m., attention turns to the winners of the "Capturing Effingham" photography contest, which drew 150 entries highlighting the county’s landscapes, architecture, people, and agriculture. Twenty finalists were chosen by a panel that included county officials, artists, and local media representatives.

“The range and quality of work really showcase how much talent we have in Effingham,” said Effingham Artists founder Lindsey Gerow. “I think people will be surprised and inspired.”

After the awards, the spotlight shifts to the RC Art Show reception from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring work from 10 local artists available for purchase. The festivities are part of downtown’s First Friday, which also includes food trucks, children’s activities, and business specials.

Bailey Bigger at the Mars Theatre

As the art show winds down, the Mars Theatre will host acclaimed singer-songwriter Bailey Bigger at 7 p.m. The Arkansas-born artist has earned national attention for her poetic storytelling and lyrical honesty, opening for legends such as Willie Nelson, The Avett Brothers, and Trampled by Turtles. Her latest album, Resurrection Fern, draws on nature and human resilience with a blend of folk traditions and delta roots.

Tickets are available at MarsTheatre.com, with seating limited.
