Board of Tax Assessors meetings remain open to public
COVID-19

SPRINGFIELD -- The Board of Tax Assessors will be holding meetings that are still open to the public.

 The board will meet Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for a workshop and special called meeting.  It will also meet at 4 p.m. for a regular meeting.

The regular office and the main building are closed to the public because of COVID-19. Therefore, if you would like to attend any of these open meetings, contact the Board of Tax Assessor’s secretary at 912-754-2125 to ensure entrance into the building.

Two Arrested After Stolen Ambulance Chase Ends in Crash in Port Wentworth

Two men are in custody after police say one stole an ambulance and led officers on a chase from Rincon to Port Wentworth Monday afternoon. The driver, Dwayne Simmons, 56, of Savannah, faces multiple felony charges. The passenger, Georgell Brown, 51, was charged with loitering after fleeing the scene of an earlier crash. The pursuit ended when the ambulance crashed near Highway 21.
