Special to the Herald
On Tuesday, Feb. 24, Effingham County 4-H members traveled to Atlanta for the annual 4-H Day at the Capitol.
This educational event brings together 4-H'ers from across Georgia to explore leadership opportunities in their communities, hear from inspiring speakers, tour the state Capitol, and meet with their state representatives. Students were able to spend some time with Governor Brian Kemp and Speaker of the House Jon Burns.
Effingham County was represented by six 4-H members: Chloe Campbell, Ethan Campbell, Dalton Holler, Angel Negron Irizarry, Abbie Sulkowski, and Abigail Williamson. These students had the unique opportunity to experience firsthand the inner workings of state government and showcase Effingham County’s commitment to civic engagement.
4-H Day at the Capitol helps empower young people to become the leaders of tomorrow by fostering direct interaction with state representatives. Events like these highlight 4-H's dedication to building positive relationships, encouraging leadership development, and enhancing community awareness.
