Aug. 16 Theft by Taking-Misdemeanor ($500 or Less); Criminal Trespass A man stated that someone had stolen his $75 trail camera. He had, ironically, set up the camera to catch thieves and he was unsure as to who had stolen it. The reporting officer was Matthew Davis. Aug. 17 Reckless Driving; Failure to Obey Stop Sign; Aggravated Assault Against Law Enforcement Officer; Wanted Person-Warrant Service; Fleeing or Attempting to Elude; Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance; Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects; Theft by Receiving Stolen Property- Misdemeanor A man with an outstanding warrant was seen driving down the roadway. He admitted to not having his driver’s license on him when he was pulled over. When the officer’s back was turned, the man sped away from the scene. He drove at very dangerous speeds and blew through several stop signs over the course of a very long chase that came to an end when the vehicle hit a guard rail and flipped over. The man and a female passenger were transported to a local hospital for treatment. A search of the vehicle yielded several small glass smoking pipes and trace amounts of cocaine. The man was ultimately arrested from the hospital. The reporting officer was Daniel Handshumaker. Aug. 20 Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects A woman stated that she had discovered a broken glass smoking pipe in the belongings of her ex-boyfriend. She found it after he moved out and she was going through his stuff. The ex-boyfriend could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Charles Loetscher. Driving Without License; Seat Belt Violation; Failure to Yield Right of Way to Vehicle A man was spotted having crashed into a tractor trailer after he failed to yield to the trailer’s right of way. A background check revealed that the man did not have a proper driver’s license and that he was in the country illegally. He was swiftly arrested a short time later. The reporting officer was James Thompson. Suspicious Incident A woman stated that she was informed by her bank that she needed to contact a website to resolve the matter of foreclosure on her house. The people at the website requested that she pay $900, and she did so immediately. She was later informed by her bank that there should have been no charge. The people at the website could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was James Ashley Denney. Burglary-First Degree (Felony) A woman advised that her son stole a rifle out of her house after she had him evicted. She also believed that one of her son’s friends had assisted him, though she could not prove this. The son and the friend could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Jason Garland. Criminal Trespass-Property Damage A woman stated that her husband became intoxicated and threw her out of the bedroom. The next day, he chased her around the house and threw her tablet in the pool. She responded by throwing his tablet in the pool. The husband left the residence shortly afterwards, and he could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Jason Garland. Aug. 21 Domestic Dispute A man stated that he and his wife got into a verbal argument over the lock on their car. He noted that his wife had been known to use drugs in the past and that he was not sure if their child was safe around her. The wife, however, claimed that the fight did become physical and that the man bit her on the face. Both parties were advised to separate for the time being, and the wife took custody of the child. Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects; Drugs Not in Original Container- Misdemeanor; Traffic Complaint/Violation A woman was spotted driving down the highway in a reckless manner. She admitted to using a GPS in her vehicle as well as having loose prescription drugs in her possession. She was swiftly arrested a short time later, and her vehicle was towed by a local wrecker service. The reporting officer was Matthew Davis. Battery-Family Violence (First Offense) Misdemeanor A woman advised that she hit her significant other because he would not let her leave the house. After she did this, he responded by throwing her against a bedroom wall which created a hole in the wall. It was noted the woman’s face was swollen. The significant other agreed with this story and it was noted that he had a small scratch on his forehead. Both parties were arrested, and their child was placed under the care of the woman’s father. Battery-Family Violence (First Offense) Misdemeanor; Maintaining a Disorderly House; Obstruction of Law Enforcement (Misdemeanor) A woman stated that her boyfriend locked her out of their house and said that he was going to let his dogs kill her cats. When she kicked the front door in to save the cats, he hit her on the back of the head and left the residence with their daughter. The boyfriend confirmed that a fight took place but denied hitting the woman. After some additional conflict arose, both parties were placed under arrest. Aug. 22 Wanted Person-Warrant Service A man with an outstanding warrant was seen hiding in a person’s place of residence. After a brief struggle, the man was secured and placed under arrest. The reporting officer was Caleb Grovenstein. Criminal Trespass; Obstructing or Hindering Law Enforcement Officers; Simple Battery-Family Violence; Cruelty to Children-Allow Child to Witness A woman stated that her mother and a man got into an argument while to two were drinking alcohol. During the fight, the man broke the woman’s bedroom door by punching it several times. He also grabbed the woman and punched her in the stomach. The man was swiftly arrested a short time later. The reporting officer was Robert Elliott Petitt. Aug. 23 Wanted Person-Warrant Service A vehicle whose owner had a suspended license was seen traveling down the road. The driver stated that he was not the owner and that he had been pulled over several previous times for the same reason. A background check on the driver revealed that he had an outstanding warrant, and he was arrested. A family member arrived on scene to pick up the vehicle. The reporting officer was Max Barber. Domestic Dispute A man stated that his father hit him during a fight that they were having over a dog. The father then proceeded to leave the scene through the woods. The father was later located, and it was advised that the two parties separate for the remainder of the day. The reporting officer was Caleb Grovenstein. Dogs, Cats or Livestock Running at Large Prohibited A woman advised that several dogs were acting aggressive toward her and her daughter while they were riding their bikes. The dogs were located a short time later, and one of them had to be hit on the head with a baton when it went after an officer. The dogs were then herded back to their owner’s house where they had to be peppered sprayed when they tried to attack the officer a second time. The owner was later contacted, and he was advised to take care of the situation. The reporting officer was James Wilkinson. Dumping Waste Under 500 Pounds or 100 Cubic Feet in Volume A man stated that two unknown subjects were illegally dumping trash in a dumpster on his property. The man was the owner of a business, and the extra trash was costing him thousands of dollars. He provided photographic evidence, and a neighbor confirmed the story. The subjects could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Malcom Foy. Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (Misdemeanor); No Insurance A man was spotted driving down the road on a suspended license. A background check also revealed that the vehicle did not have insurance, and he was placed under arrest. The reporting officer was William West. Aug. 24 Theft by Taking-Misdemeanor ($500 or Less) A woman stated that her son stole a package from her doorstep because she refused to let him use her car. The package contained two side mirrors that were valued at nearly $50. The son could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Bryan Shearouse. Dog Bite A couple advised that their daughter was bitten on the face by their neighbor’s dog while they were at a cookout. The incident occurred while the daughter was petting the dog. The dog was confirmed to be up to date on its vaccinations, and the daughter was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The reporting officer was Bryan Shearouse. Obstructing or Hindering Law Enforcement Officers; Request for Ambulance Service when Not Reasonably Needed; Unlawful Conduct During 911 Calls or Contacts 911 and Hangs Up A man called 911 and stated that he was suicidal and wanted to go to the hospital. A background check revealed that he has made several of these types of calls in the past and that it is usually due to his drinking habit. It was noted that he was intoxicated on this occasion, and it was requested that he speak with police outside of his home. When he refused, he was arrested following a brief struggle. He was treated at a local hospital where he continually cursed at officers and made rude sexual remarks about their wives. The reporting officer was Loren Richard Scholes. Criminal Trespass A woman stated that a man attempted to steal a pair of wireless headphones from her store. When she questioned him about the theft, he handed her the headphones and ran into the woods. He left his car in the parking lot of the store. He could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Jonathan Simpson. Financial Transaction Card Fraud A man stated that someone called him and claimed that he had to pay $450 for missing jury duty. After purchasing two money orders and giving the caller the information, he deduced that he was being scammed. He was unsure of who the caller had been. The reporting officer was Malcom Foy. Possession of Firearms by Convicted Felons; Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (Misdemeanor); Windshield Requirements; Safety Belt Violation for 18-Year-Old and Older A man was spotted driving down that road without wearing a seat belt and in a vehicle with a severely cracked windshield. He immediately admitted to having a suspended license, and a background check also revealed that he was a convicted felon. He was swiftly arrested after it was discovered that he had a handgun in his possession. The vehicle was turned over to a female passenger. The reporting officer was Matthew Davis. Public Drunkenness; Simple Battery-Family Violence A woman advised that her husband hit her and threw her tablet across the house during an altercation. It was noted that she smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages. She became belligerent at the sight of her husband, and the two had to be separated. The husband later claimed that he and the woman were having marital problems and that she had hit him several times after drinking heavily. His young daughter confirmed this series of events. The husband also pointed out a hole in the bedroom wall which he claimed was caused by the woman throwing the tablet. The woman ultimately had to be arrested due to her aggressive attitude. The reporting officer was James Daniel McKie. DUI-Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol; Failure to Maintain Lane A man was seen crossing the center line several times while driving down the road. It was noted that his vehicle smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages. He admitted to having previously had seven drinks and agreed to take a field sobriety test. He failed and was swiftly arrested. His vehicle was turned over to his girlfriend. The reporting officer was Daniel Handshumaker. Aug. 25 Dogs, Cats or Livestock Running at Large Prohibited A man stated that a dog came up to him while he was mowing his lawn and acted aggressively. He noted that there are several children in the area and that he is concerned for their safety. The owner later said that the dog accidently escaped and that it would not happen again. The reporting officer was Bobby McCloud. Criminal Trespass A woman stated that one of the drivers of her trucking company went to her house in the middle of the night and started banging on the door and asking for his check. The driver had been scheduled to pick up the check the next day. He could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Jonathan Simpson. Theft by Taking-Felony A man stated that he was informed by his neighbor that someone had stolen the man’s ATV. It was noted that fresh tracks had been made in the grass where the ATV had driven off. The man was unsure of who could have committed the theft. The reporting officer was Kristopher Withem. Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony; Criminal Trespass A couple stated that a man had attempted to steal their ATV but that they were able to chase him away. The female had been the first to see the man while she was sitting on her porch, and she proceeded to inform her husband of the man. The two suspected that a friend of the wife’s brother had been involved in the attempted theft, but they could not prove this. The man could not be located at the time. The reporting officer was Matthew Davis. DUI-Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol A man was spotted driving into a ditch while trying to pull out of a driveway. A resident at the house stated that the man was his friend and that the man had been drinking heavily before getting into the vehicle. The resident had tried to stop the man from driving, but the man ignored these requests. It was noted that the vehicle smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages. The man said that he was trying to get to his mother’s house, but he did not acknowledge being drunk. He agreed to take a field sobriety test, but it could not be completed due to his high level of intoxication. He was swiftly arrested a short time later. The reporting officer was James Daniel McKie. Aug. 26 Burglary-First Degree (Felony) A woman advised that someone had stolen two of her mother’s rings and her father’s rifle out of her house. She noted that her mother had been living with her so that she could recover from injuries sustained in a fall. The woman suspected her nephew of committing the theft, but she could not prove this. There were signs of forced entry to the home, but the nephew could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was James Ashley Denney. Obstructing or Hindering Persons Making Emergency Contact A man stated that his daughter threatened to burn down the house after the two got into an argument. He noted that during the argument, the daughter disconnected the phone so that the man could not call 911. The man’s wife confirmed this series of events. The daughter admitted to the incident, but she claimed that her parents had been the ones who started the argument. She was placed under arrest a short time later. The reporting officer was Jonathan Simpson. Burglary-First Degree (Felony) A woman stated that her mother broke into her house and stole her microwave. The woman noted that the two had previously been in a fight and that the theft was likely an act of retaliation. It was noted that there was damage to the front door. Criminal Trespass-Property Damage A man stated that someone had broken the rear driver side window of his vehicle. Nothing had been taken, and the door was still locked. He was unsure of who could have caused the damage. The reporting officer was Jonathan Simpson. Criminal Trespass A man advised that his ex-girlfriend was refusing to allow him to see his daughter. He had tried to force his way into her residence but left when the ex-girlfriend threatened to call law enforcement. The man was advised to not return to the residence. Failure to Maintain Lane; Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance; Possession of Marijuana A woman was seen failing to maintain her lane while driving down the road. She stated that she did not have her license on her, and it was noted that she had marijuana residue on her shirt. She admitted to having previously smoked marijuana, and she was arrested. A male passenger was also placed under arrest after it was discovered that he had additional illegal drugs in his possession. The vehicle was turned over to the woman’s father. DUI- Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol; Driving While License Suspended or Revoked; (Misdemeanor); Failure to Maintain Lane; Wanted Person-Warrant Service A man was spotted failing to maintain his proper lane of travel while driving down the road. He denied being intoxicated, but it was noted that he smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages. He was swiftly arrested after he failed a field sobriety test and after a background check revealed that he had an active warrant for failure to appear. The reporting officer was Max Barber. DUI-Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol; Failure to Maintain Lane A man was seen having crashed his vehicle in a ditch on the side of the road. It was noted that he smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages. He admitted to being under the influence and agreed to take a field sobriety test. He failed and was placed under arrest. Failure to Dim Headlights; Failure to Maintain Lane; DUI- Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol A man was spotted driving down the road with his bright lights on and crossing the center line. He admitted to having previously had a few drinks, and he agreed to take a field sobriety test. He failed the test and was swiftly arrested. His girlfriend arrived on the scene to collect his vehicle. The reporting officer was Jason Bragg. Criminal Trespass-Property Damage A woman advised that someone had run over her water meter which had caused the main line to break. The incident occurred when a tow truck ran out of gas and pulled into her yard. The towing company agreed to pay for the damages. The reporting officer was James Daniel McKie.
