Jonathan Lynn, Rincon’s city manager, submitted a letter of resignation Aug. 1 to the city council. In the letter he states his last day on the job will be Sept. 3.

He had been on a temporary leave of absence since mid-July, citing health reasons.

“This decision comes with a heavy heart and is driven by personal well-being and health concerns that necessitate my full attention currently,” Lynn wrote in his resignation letter. He added that he will not be seeking another city manager position and, “This is a quality-of-life decision, and my immediate focus will be to continue prioritizing my health to ensure the best quality of life for me and my family.”

The city has previously said it would not comment on Lynn’s health stating it wants to respect his privacy.

Lynn has been Rincon’s city manager since September 2022.

Lynn was briefly suspended by the city council from his position on June 1, 2023; but was reinstated after an appeal hearing on June 29, 2023, where several coworkers and members of the public spoke on his behalf.
