City of Springfield offices will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

In a statement, the city said, “We anticipate the onset of inclement weather due to Hurricane Idalia. In addition to significant rain, we expect to begin receiving sustained winds mid-morning throughout the midday period and we want staff and their families to remain safe.

“We will work closely with Effingham County Emergency Management, and other agencies, to monitor weather conditions during the day on Wednesday and determine if there will any other service interruptions,” the city’s statement continued.

Updates will be posted to the city’s Facebook page. Residents should monitor it periodically.
